The Hurricane District serves all Scouting units located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, south of SW 40th Street (Bird Road), west of SW 57th Avenue (Red Road), and north of SW 152 Street (Coral Reef Drive).
The purpose of the district is to support the Scouting units in this geographic area and make them successful. Success is measured by the annual attainment of the Centennial Quality Unit award and Centennial Quality District.
Each district is serviced by a professional District Executive and is run by the district "Key 3", the District Chairman, District Commissioner, both of whom are adult volunteers, as well as the District Executive.
