A Message from the
District Chairman

Thank you for taking the time to look into Scouting. Within this web site you will notice some of the local Scouting activities in the calendar on the right that your youth can participate in. We have provided some entertainment for the youth with some Scouting games at the bottom of the right column. As you will also notice, there is plenty of opportunity for the Units to provide video or photos.

We share the idea that it is important to be Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.

Would your community be a better place if we lived by those words? Would your community be a better place if the youth who live there all shared these values? Scouting offers you the opportunity to be part of the solution to problems that may be affecting your family and your community.

Scouting is your opportunity to bond with your child. Our Scout leaders are most often active parents who want to see their youth grow. As such, they experience opportunities to participate in their child’s development. This is not a spectator sport. Nor is it one where you simply hand your child off to the coach and hope for the best. This is an opportunity to be a part of your son’s life as you help him build his pinewood derby car, be there with him as he competes in the “Fishing Rodeo”, or walk with him on the parade route on Memorial Day as he gives honor to fallen soldiers.

Want your youth to join Scouting? Simply follow the links or send us an email, and we will find a Unit near you that you can join. Your school or organization could also start a new Unit under our guidance and training. A youth can join Boy Scouts (ages 11 to 18) even if he was never a Cub Scout (ages 6 to 10). Another option is Venturing which is open to boys and girls ages 14 to 20. Where they can participate together in high adventure activities such as rock climbing. Or be part of a Crew, where youth learn how to operate small vessels that have been donated. In short, we have the programs that can assist your child to a better future with strong values and leadership qualities.

Worried about the cost? We have fund raising activities such as Camp Cards and Popcorn sales that can pay for your youths camping experience. You can also help by donating to our annual Friends of Scouting campaign. Donations can be made to:

Please don’t forget to notate “Lighthouse District” on your pledge, so that those youth in Broward County are credited with your gift. Feel free to also help us by asking your company, local business leaders, and community leaders for their assistance in supporting Scouts.
